A long-time member of the Char-Broil LIVE Community Forums, RAD, shares his version of Beer Can Chicken – a backyard cookout favorite. There is much debate of late about whether cooking chicken this way actually results in a more flavorful roasted chicken. I’ll stay outta that debate because I subscribe to the motto held by most members of the Community Forums – “If you and your guests like it – then that’s the way to cook it!” Translation – except for food safety reasons – pretty much how you want your food to taste and look is a matter of personal taste. AND I will testify to my experience preparing beer can chicken – the beer does flavor the roasted bird. Course that could happen because I most always spill the dang beer inside the chicken when attempting to take it off the can or bottle! Just say’n. Welcome to the Cookout! ~ Barry CB Martin

Beer Can Chicken by RAD on the Char-Broil TRU-Infrared grill.
“I have been getting some slack about beer can chicken in The Big Easy. Some say it is good and the beer does evaporate, I disagree. To me the beer doesn’t evaporate (when making beer can chicken in the cooker and) it doesn’t make a difference on the chicken being juicy, TBE does it not the beer. So, I decided to use my trusty RED (grill) for some Beer can chicken. That was delicious, juicy and crispy skin. I had to stop the vultures so I could get a pic of the golden skin.”

Here’s a basic recipe for preparing CB’s EZ Beer Can Chicken in the Char-Broil Big Easy.

I have used this method a few times it seems to work well, I will only put half a can of beer and fill the rest of the can with apple juice to give it a nice flavor.
thanks for the good tip — I confess to liking the vertical way of roasting, specifically using The Big Easy. And I always manage to spill the beer when removing the chicken so I can also say the beer definitely adds flavor.
